Sometimes the most stunning artwork is revealed in the smallest pieces of art – that’s the concept behind this class where you will create a mini shrine created from a metal box to hold all your treasures to create a piece that can be worn as a necklace or incorporated into another larger assemblage piece. In this evening workshop, you will learn the fundamentals of working with a variety of mixed media techniques including creating texture, layering, and working with many different mediums to create this miniature statement piece.

Student supply list to bring to class:

  • black and white gesso
  • paint brushes in a variety of sizes
  • sponges/daubers or the like for detail work
  • palette knives
  • liquid adhesive that holds metal and other embellishments like Liquid Fusion
  • heat tool
  • craft mat
  • ‘red line’ tape or similar
  • detail scissors
  • craft knife
  • charms, ephemera, embellishments and other found objects that you may want to include in your work to personalize your finished piece
